Music Feature: “Tade Kuu Mushi mo Like it! / 46okunen LOVE” by ANGERME

Hello, Everyone!!! Music Feature is back!! Woohhhoooooo!!!

It’s been months since my last music review. Heh. I know, compared to my anime content, most of my other features are lackluster when it comes to views and receptions but I don’t care. I just wanna share my thoughts about music and my other interests.

Anyway, let’s start off with the newly released single of one of my favorite Japanese Idol groups, ANGERME.

Tade Kuu Mushi mo Like it! / 46okunen LOVE

  1. Tade Kuu Mushi mo Like it!
  2. 46okunen LOVE
  3. Tade Kuu Mushi mo Like it! (Instrumental)
  4. 46okunen LOVE (Instrumental)

This is ANGERME’s 25th single, released last week, October 31, 2018. It had 5 editions: 2 regulars and 3 limited editions.

Other covers:

  1. Tade Kuu Mushi mo Like it! (Every man to his taste. (Like it!))

OMG! I love the song.

Believe me its not the most original out there. The song sounds like a ripoff of most of Kobushi Factory’s music, old music of H!P and some beats from modern funky JPOP songs out there. But bruh, it’s a fun song. It never fail to make me smile. The vocals of the members adds alot of flavor the song, especially the fact that this song is mostly sang in unison. Cuz all the members in this group are good and reliable singers, their vocals made this song great.

I might’ve liked the song but that doesn’t mean I’m happy that this is the main song of this single. It’s too mainstream and tame to be the flagship of the single. It’s a great song, no doubt, but I don’t think it deserves it’s position as the main song. Well, a factor of this is the fact that this song was chosen as the theme song of an anime documentary starring a huge star, Aoi Yuu, who is a huge fan of the group and this song was laso chosen as the new ending song of a radio show. So, I’m going to let this one slide.

For the MV, it represents the song really well. I really like the part when it showcased the individual likes of the members: Ayaka with art, Kassa with bubble tea, Rikako with panada stuff toy, Rina with fashion, Akari with baseball, Murotan with uuhhhmm crocodiles (wut??), Kawamu with apples, Musume with make up and Kananan with playing cards. By the lyrics, the song meant about people having different tastes and not caring about what others would say. There costumes looks really good and not in uniform which is a nice touch. The cosnsistency is really there.

Of course, my favorite part of the MV would be the part where the members line up in a white background, wearing only white shirts and blue jeans. With glasses on, they have fun in a very ANGERME way. Seeing them having fun makes me, the viewer, smile too. It made the MV alot more fun and bright.

Now for the choreography, ANGERME slays. For a group consists mostly of dancers, their dance lived up to my expectations. It made me want to see their live performance of the song. Oooohohohoho!!

Overall, the song is great in my opinion. It fits well with ANGERME. The MV didn’t disappoint too. With that slick choreo and nice costumes, it made the MV aesthetically fun to watch. Definitely, check this one out.

2. 46okunen LOVE (4.6 Billion Years LOVE)

Now this is what I’m talking about.

Such a fun song to listen too. When I first heard it, I thought the song was weak compared to the main song above. But 46okunen LOVE, grew on me immediately, especially after seeing the MV.

The song is alot more mainstream and very H!P cuz of its distinct disco music. I mean, there are some parts of the song that made me think of Utakata Saturday Night and other old disco songs of Morning Musume. The melody in the verses and chorus is quite familiar, as if its been reused alot of times. Still, this song is really fun to listen to. Even though its very typical and common, it has a hook and a melody that is easy to listen to.

Just like the previous song, the vocals of ANGERME continues to amaze as they slay this song. I really like how the singing parts were divided and given to members. The division was so nice compared to other H!P groups. At first, I was abit skeptical with the chosen members for the solo parts but now, I think all of them fits their assign parts really well. The producers definitely knows who fits the part and let them shine in their own way.

Compared to the other song, 46okunen LOVE got the short end of the stick by only having an indoor studio music video backdrop. Still, with the amazing effects and bright set-up, it made the MV looks alot better than the previous song. The aesthetics is top notch. I couldn’t stop smiling and feel really happy cuz of the MV. Yes, the lyrics is pretty much about love and the earth, which resonates positivity. But also the performance of ANGERME that made me feel happy inside.

I’m abit not impressed by the costumes, but the color of it seemed to represent the earth so I’ll let it slide. Each member btw, looks drop dead gorgeous. I mean, each of them were already amazing visually, but they look too good in this MV.

The choreography was not as amazing compared to the previous song, but its still really good. It fits well with the disco vibe of the song and it also had some classic disco moves from years ago. It brought quite the nostalgia. I can clearly see that the members were enjoying performing to the song, which adds alot.

Overall, I prefer this song over Tada Kuu mushi mo like it. Why? Well, its really engaging, fun to listen to, and the MV is aesthetically alot better than the main song.

Well, that’s just me.

Wow! I already liked the previous single of ANGERME very much, I didn’t expect they would wow me the 2nd time. They are really on the roll now.

It’s nice to see some funky disco music from ANGERME. After all, almost all the groups under Hello! Project (except the new bebe groups) have disco funk music in their discography. ANGERME is now baptized by the H!P disco music. Heh!

Anyway, that is all for now.

Thanks for reading!!

Hello! Project Song Ranking (1st Half 2018)

Hello Everyone!!

Even though I announced before that I’ll refrain from posting anything other than anime-related content, I just can’t help it. I had always dreamed on making this entry even before having a blog. Before when my iPOD was still alive, I make a playlist of all the amazing songs (KPOP, JPOP and Western, respectively) released in the first half then 2nd half of the year. I just love making rankings and top lists, bruh. That’s why right now, I’m going to make one. Heh.

As you can see from the title the list will be composed of the best songs released by Hello! Project this year. Why Hello! project you say? Well, cuz compared to KPOP, Western music & other JPOP acts, I was more updated to Hello! Project music (if you’ve been a follower to my blog, you’ll know XD).

All of the debuted groups of Hello! Project (except the ‘sub-unit’ Country Girls, sigh) released atleast one single in the first half of 2018, so I am going to rank them from worst to best. Oooohohohohoh, this is going to be fun.

15. Shurenka – Tsubaki Factory

Even after months of listening to this, Shurenka is still my least Hello! Project song for this year. The song is not exciting, its also forgettable. Even though my bias, Kiki, got some spotlight in their live performance, it didn’t affect what I feel about this song.

14. Naite Ii yo – Juice=Juice

This song is nice to listen to, but its quite forgettable. I do like the message of the song though.

13. Morning Coffee (20th Anniversary Ver.) – Morning Musume.

You might be wondering why this one is included. This song, alongside Hanasaku, were released as a digital singles before the mini-album was released. That’s why both songs are included in this list as singles. Moving on, Morning Coffee (20th Anniversary Ver.) that was sung by the 1st gen and the current members of Morning Musume.’18 was really nice and nostalgic. Its rock and fast beat was refreshing, but its underwhelming and repetitive. I mean, I had listened to the original song for a hundredth time already, listened to the Miso soup version for quite awhile now and now this, its too much.

12. Kimi Dake janai sa…friends (Acoustic version) – ANGERME

I like Kimi dake janai sa…friends (acoustic ver.). The rawness of the vocals and its amazing arrangement soothes my ears. But at the same time, those are also the reasons why they rank low. This version is quite mellow and slow compared to the original version. And I freakin’ love the original version. So rather than listening to this one, I prefer listening to the original.

11. Ashita Tenki ni Naare – Kobushi Factory

Now this one is a surprise. I liked this song over the main song in the single Its because of the amazing vocals and especially the instrumentals. Everything is changed now. The thing that was lacking in this song was the impact of their live performance. The lackluster dance and mic stand didn’t help at all. I wanted more. Cuz their live performance wasn’t that memorable, the song itself became less appealing.

10. I Need You ~ Yozora no Kanransha ~ – Tsubaki Factory

This song is refreshing, no matter how many times I listen to it. Even their performance was refreshing. My only problem of this song would be that punch of awesomeness. i mean, I could listen to this on certain times, but it doesn’t deliver on other times. Just me and my taste and mood swings. Lel.

09. A gonna – Morning Musume.’18

When this MM’s single was released, I really thought that the songs would be on the last place, cuz I couldn’t stand them. But damn, I got hooked after listening to it a couple of times. A gonna was definitely a surprise. The chorus was hella catchy and Sakura’s solo part is uh-mazing. The dance break is also interesting, but the overall song is underwhelming. There’s no climax where I could bang my head or go wild on.

08. Vivid Midnight – Juice=Juice

One word: FUN. The song is really fun to listen o. Listening to it makes me want to dance to random actions I didn’t know I have. LOL. Vivid Midnight was a song I didn’t know I need to brighten up my day.

07. Hana ga Saku Taiyou no Abite – Morning Musume.’18

HatachinoMorningMusume-r (1)

The intro dance break always hit me. It sounds so amazing. It immediately make me remember the amazing choreography of Morning Musume.’18. It was that memorable. The chorus gets stuck on my head as well. Even though this song is abit simple and lacks climax, its still very memorable cuz of how the members performed it on stage. There performance impacted me greatly.

06. SEXY SEXY – Juice=Juice

I didn’t expect I would like this song this much. I can’t really point out what made me like this one over Vivid Midnight. Maybe cuz the refrain is quite addicting, or the chorus’ amazing melody, or maybe cuz my baby Yanamin is the center (lol). I really don’t know. I…just love this song.

05. Teion Yakedo – Tsubaki Factory

Ooohohohohoho, I think I already shared during my music review of its single how much I love this song. Its so dramatic and my jam. I had also listened to this song since late last year, which is a huge plus. I mean, I had liked this song for a long time ( I even memorize the lyrics…lol). Their live performance of this song is also amazing. Tsubaki Factory is definitely becoming an amazing group.

04. Kore Kara da! – Kobushi Factory

When I first heard this song, I like the song but not as much as the other one, Ashita Tenki ni Naare. But damn, the more I listened to this song, Kore kara da!, the more I feel the passion of the members singing. There was something about this song that made me crave to see it’s live performance. And bruh, the live performance of this song is so AMAZING. It almost made me want to cry watching them perform. It wasn’t just the song’s message, but how the Kobushi Factory delivered the song. I’m so happy to be a fan of this group.

03. Uraha=Lover – ANGERME

When the ANGERME’s latest single was released, this song became my favorite. Not only that this song got a really aesthetic MV, but because the song itself is really good. Listening to the song feels like I’m watching a drama or something. Its melody is so easy to listen to and the arrangement of the song is really remarkable. The vocals of the members were really on point too. I had seen only one live of this song, and I desparately want to see more.

02. Are you Happy? – Morning Musume.’18

Oooohohohoho Surprise Surprise. Didn’t expect Are you happy? would be 2nd place, I didn’t expect it too. LOL. When I first heard this song, I didn’t like this one at all. But shocks, the live performance saved this song. I mean, I knew that this song would do well in lives, but I didn’t expect the impact of their live performance. This really pumps the crowd, even me, who was just watching the performance. I am so sorry for doubting this song. I’m so sorry Tsunku-sama for doubting you. This song is UH-MAAZZZIIINNNNGGG.

01. Nakenai ze・・・Kyoukan Sagi – ANGERME

Ooohohohohoho, another surprise here. I didn’t expect to love this song and even declare it as the best Hello! project song released in the first half of 2018. Nakenai ze…Kyoukan Sagi is a fun, upbeat song with a “I don’t give a f*ck” type of lyrics. I LOVE IT. ANGERME’s live performance of this song wowed me on so many levels, which prompt me to love this song more and more. Their performance is full of energy and you can tell the members are having fun with the slick choreography. I never knew I would make this sentence but bruh, this song is definitely better than their other EDM songs. IT’S THAT GOOOOOOOODDDDDD. Eargasms overload!!! oooohohohohoh!!

Now that was interesting. XD

This year is Hello! Project’s 20th Anniversary so there’s definitely more amazing releases later this year. Ooohohohohohooh.

This is just the Hello! Project song rankings, it would be nice if I could make for KPOP, Western or OPM too. But due to time constraint and lack of resources, I’m gonna put that idea aside for awhile.

I’m still not sure if I’m going to make more non-anime related content in the future. It will just depends my mood, motivation, and time.

Anyway, that’s it for now.

Music Album Feature: “Do Me A Favor” by Suzuki Airi

Hello, Everyone!

Today is  special day! Ooohohohohoh. It’s my birthday!! I thought of doing something special or a special entry…but nah. Instead, I want to review this album that was recently released, “Do me a Favor” by Suzuki Airi.

Ever since the disbandment of her groups, C-ute & Buono, I wanted Airi to pursue solo. She’s my favorite member in both of her groups (I love all the members, but Airi is special), and I wanted to see more of her. I had always been a fan of her ever since I discovered Buono’s and C-ute music. I would even consider her as my ultimate number 1 idol in JPOP, but I’ll gush more about her in a future entry. For now, let’s focus on her debut album.

Limited Edition

My Thoughts:

When this album first announced last year, I got really excited. Getting a Suzuki Airi album so soon is definitely a treat to us, fans. I was expecting them to release some series singles first to test if the ‘solo’ path would be a success, but it seems the company believed in her popularity and her fans. Bruh, we push through.

I always like Airi’s voice, its very friendly, light-hearted and unique. Her voice might be comforting, but it doesn’t stand out much compared to her peers like C-ute’s Chisato or Buono’s Momoko. Still, its very sure her voice is easy to listen. Now that she released an album we get to hear more of her voice and her vocal range.

From my initial listen to her album, I notice that her album is heavily influenced by the type of music she usually listens to. Also, her album ranges from dance songs to band songs, in a way its inspired by her time in C-ute & Buono. Its very refreshing and nostalgic at the same time.

The title track of this album, a dance pop song. This song alongside start again got an early release through digital. This song definitely gave me a glimpse or an idea of what kind of music Airi wants to pursue. Her vocals were on point and it fits well with the song. For some point this song reminds me of some jpop songs that was released in the 2000’s, at the same time, its fits well with the current trend.

I really like the refrain and the chorus of the song, especially the chorus, its very catchy. The verses were okay, it balanced well with the refrain and the chorus. I’m not much of a fan of the dance break portion, but I got used to it. It does build up well to the coda. The coda though, it started off well but it didn’t climaxed enough to be more exciting. It would have been nice if the last spurt in the end wasn’t only 1 chorus but 2. It would be more dramatic and more worthwhile. But that’s just me.

I do like the song, but I got a bit disappointed cuz it lacked alot of power to declare to everyone that Airi is back. At least, the song is easy to listen to.

Mikansei Girl (未完成ガール; Incomplete Girl)

Oh boiii… this song is so Buono. From the arrangement to the melody, its so Buono. I LOVE IT. I LOVE IT. I LOVE IT!!!

Airi first performed this song at the 2017-2018 Hello! Project COUNTDOWN Concert. Even though its a new song, the fans immediately got hyped and liked this song. I mean, who wouldn’t?? This song is fun and up-beat band song that hypes the fans. With the light-hearted tone of Airi’s voice and Buono-like melody, this song is definitely a worthwhile to listen to.

Good Night

I really like this song. The intro section of the song sure is very misleading. I though this song would be a jazz ballad, but no, its just a fun dance song. This song reminds me alot of Juice=Juice’s song, Vivid Midnight. It has the same beat and melody on some parts, especially in the verses. I have no problem with it, it fits well with Airi’s voice and its really fun to listen to.

Overall, this song is really fun and nice to listen when you just want to listen to light-hearted upbeat songs.

Hikari no Hou e (光の方へ; Towards the Light)

Now this one…this one is new. Its the type of music I currently listen in JPOP. Those amazing guitar rifts, brilliant bass play and melodic drums. Uuuggghhhh, so good. Eargasms!!!! I didn’t expect I would hear this alongside with Airi’s voice. The way Airi sings is like an innocent and pure kid who just want to have fun. Airi’s cute voice fits so well. The instrumental version sound abit messy at first listen, but the more I listen to it, its actually well made.

I love it.

Be your Love

Oooohohhooh, this song reminds me alot of BoA, especially the intro, refrain and chorus parts. I know Airi is and forever a die-hard fan of BoA, and bruh, this song is so old school BoA sound. I love it. Another bop dance song. Oooohohohohoh.

Though I do wanna point out, that Airi’s voice doesn’t really delivers well enough power, especially on the verse parts. Its a bit bland and boring. But her vocal prowess in the refrain and chorus definitely make up for it. I still love it.

Oooohohohohoh. A collaboration between SCANDAL and Suzuki Airi. YAS!!!

SCANDAL is one of my favorite bands and knowing that they are close to Airi made me happy. Last year, Airi shared she’s having a hard time coping that she’s moving forward alone in music industry. The SCANDAL members, especially Rina who is a close friend of Airi, came to her aid and help her in transitioning. This song is the evidence of their friendship. Rina wrote the lyrics, while Mami did the composition and arrangement. The song is so SCANDAL but at the same time, its reminds me of Buono’s music too. The melody is easy to listen to, especially if you are a fan of SCANDAL or Buono music already. Its definitely a new feeling hearing Haruna’s vocal in the background while Airi is singing main vocal. Its really fun to listen to.

I never knew this kind of song would be here in her album. I mean, this song is so JPOP. Its the type of music that made me a fan of JPOP. H!P has an eccentric sound in their music, so this type of songs are rare in their discography (they like to be different). Hearing Airi’s voice singing a very generic JPOP song is very refreshing and definitely a new experience. The song fits so well with her vocals. She delivered it well. Though, I do have a problem with the arrangement in the coda part and climax of the song. I find it abit lacking and not high enough, but I digress. Don’t mind me.

Overall, the song is generic yet really soothing to listen. This might sound like a filler to other people, but as fans of H!P music, this sure is refreshing. I want more of it.

Kimi no Suki na Hito (君の好きなひと; Your Favorite Person)

Now this one reminds me of C-ute’s mid-tempo songs, but less eccentric. Airi sounds really good with this type of songs. Its her forte. Its laid back and the melody is easy to listen to. I want to hear more of this type of songs in her next releases.

Tabun ne, (たぶんね、; Maybe)

Ooohhhohohoh. Now we are back to dance type of songs. Its a nice transition from the previous song. Along with Moment, these mid-tempo dance songs fits well with her voice and energy. It sounds generic but trendy. Another easy to listen song.

Iin ja nai (いいんじゃない; Isn’t It Fine?)

Woah, I didn’t expect this type of music would be part of Airi’s debut album. There’s already a couple of songs from C-ute and Buono that has the same flow and feel with this song. Airi really wants to cover everything she learnt all through her 10+ years as an idol, huh.

The song is sexy and also jazzy. With Airi’s needy laid back voice, it fits. The instrumentals sections of the song has rock elements though, its cuz of the electric guitar. Though the feel of the song is well controlled by the piano and acoustic guitar. Oh boi, this song must be nice to see when its live. Damn.

perfect timing

After the sexy jazz song, we proceed to a mid-tempo dance song which exudes sexiness and appeal. Airi also excels in this type of songs. The chorus melody is quite generic but it works. It goes well with the verse and overall song. Bruh, the coda….NOW THAT’S A PROPER CODA. So good. The melody and music drop, Damn. I love it. So good.

Candy Box

Another Buono inspired song. Oooohohohohoh.

I wasn’t much of a fan of the intro, but the verses save me. Its so Buono!!! The chorus is so fun to listen to. Why so Buono?? Well, its cuz of the instrumentals, the melody and how its arranged is quite similar to Buono’s music. Over the years of listening to it, Airi’s cute voice fits well with it I can’t unhear it anymore.

Watashi no Soba de (私のそばで; By My Side)

This one is new. Its another mid-tempo, a mix of synth and some band elements, I like. The melody in the verses are really nice, it flowed well to the chorus. Wow, the chorus is refreshing and really good. The curve in tone was weird at first, but damn it fits. I NOW LOVE IT. And Shocks, the coda. Yas, another proper coda section. It slowed down then build-up for the climax, which was the last chorus with heavy-rich instrumentals. I LOVE IT.

Airi’s vocal prowess didn’t disappoint. There wasn’t any dull moment, and the song is so nice to listen to.

Ooohohohoh. Balad!!

Airi’s voice is so soothing. I heard that Airi co-wrote this song. Damn. No wonder its so heartfelt. The blending of the instruments in the background is well done, it fits well with Airi’s voice. The melody in the verse seemed generic but it goes well with the heartwarming chorus. And bruh, the coda section, I felt it. Its so good. Then the last chorus was dramatic, I love it.

start again

The last track of the album. When DISTANCE was released early, start again again and #DMAF went along with it. Out of the 3, this song made me speechless and cry. From the start to finish. the message of the song hit me right into my heart. I need this kind of songs to get me going. Its uplifting and it gives me hope to not give up and try again. It wasn’t just the message, its also the moving melody of the chorus. It was powerful, it moved me. The verses didn’t disappoint. Even though it was simple it contrasts well to the powerful chorus. The refrain connected the simple verses and the chorus, its build up was phenomenal. And uuugggghhhh….the heartwretching coda, shocks. It was in this part where I break down. I have no words to describe it. ITS SO SO SO GOOD.

You might think that this song seems familiar, yeah, I notice that too. Its generic, many artists sang this kind of songs before. But what makes it different is if the songs delivers or not. Airi’s delivered the song really well. She delivered the message of the song. I freakin’ cried, its that powerful. I maybe biased, but its the truth. Its effect is quite similar to Taeyeon’s I. These type of songs needs a really good artists to pull it off. I think Everyone knows who and how amazing Taeyeon is. I’m not saying Airi is on the same level as Taeyeon, nope, but Airi is getting there. She’s on the right path.

Such a nice way to end an album.

Well, I think you guys know already. This album, I LOVE IT VERY MUCH. Its really good, and it definitely exceeded my expectations. Even thought there were some setbacks, overall, the album is really solid. Suzuki Airi didn’t disappoint. I do hope her future release would be better than this one. 😀

Anyway thanks for reading!!

Music Video Feature: “Are you Happy” by Morning Musume.’18

Last week, I gave my thoughts about the other MV of Morning Musume.’18. Now, I am going to review the latest and main side of the latest single of Morning Musume.’18, “Are You Happy?”

Music Video:

My Thoughts:

Ooohhh. Okay….the ending just…left me speechless….in a weird way.

The music video is not bad, but its not that good either. There were parts that made me open my mouth, cuz of shock, and made me raise my eyebrows, still out of shock and wonder. This…is not what I was expecting.

I admit, I love the fact that the location of the MV is not in a studio. Its refreshing, after all, Hello! Project are quite known to have “cheap” MV’s and limited to studio setting. Their costumes definitely fit well with the background, even though I the costumes looked recycled (I had seen tones of H!P costumes close to their latest). The cinematography of the MV is not bad too. Its similar to their previous MV, but with a different filter and lighting. In “A gonna”, the MV was warm and full of vibrant colors, while this latest MV has cold colors and mostly white. That’s a great contrast. I’m not sure if its because of the theme of the MV or the lyrics, I haven’t checked them out yet. Lel.

Now, for the dance. Simple, its weird. I won’t deny it, its so fuckin’ weird and WEIRD. But knowing that this is an H!P group, I’m not surprised. Yes, there was a bit of a shock on my part. It can’t be helped bruh, its been awhile since Morning Musume had this so many weird movements in one choreography before. Compared to “A gonna”, “Are you Happy?” choreo lacked in so many areas. Though I did like some parts of the choreo, the weird movements outweigh the good ones. Its disappointing, this is the main song, and yet, the dance is lacking.

For the song, I won’t give much details about it but I do wanna say “Are You Happy” is a bit better compared to “A gonna”. But, I’m not a fan. I do like the beat in the intro and the chorus, but hook was meh.

Hands down, Maa-chan’s visual is outstanding in this MV. She sported a different hair style which looks so good on her (she looks so grown up T_T ). 2nd to her is Sakura. Damn gurl, she knows how to grab some attention. With her voice and the way she looks at the camera, surely her fans have died watching this MV. Maria is beautiful as always. Her and her fellow 12th generation members seemed to be the center of the song, though she is clearly the “main” center of the song. This irked alot of fans (a part of me too), cuz this single was supposed to be Haachin’s (12 gen member) last single,  and yet Maria gets to be center. Its not Maria’s fault though, it can’t be helped that she is so eye-catching compared to Haachin. Anyway, for my biases, I am so happy that Ayumi & Chiichan could show off their dance abilities. I really like that they are in front when needed. I am a bit sad that both my biases got shoved at the side and won’t get much attention, but this is just the MV. I know they’ll destroy this song when they perform it live. Overall, everyone looks good. The director made sure to make everyone look good, even though the choreo looks really weird.

In conclusion, this MV was another disappointment on my part. I was expecting this to be good, cuz of the preview and the recommendation of my friend. But it turns out to be a bit of a downer, atleast its MV is better than “A gonna”.

Music Video Feature: “A gonna” by Morning Musume.’18

I wasn’t planning on releasing a feature about the Music Video, but I…just…can’t…contain…my…feels for the current released MV of Morning Musume.’18. It needs to be judged, right here right now.

PS: This entry is so unplanned. I had to push my other releases just to make sure that this post would be released this week.

Music Video:

My Thoughts:

Okay. One of the reasons why I wanted to tackle this topic immediately after its release cuz this music video pretty much shaken up the whole Hello! Project fandom. Even me. Lel. Why? Well, its because of the music video. Also the song.

Okay. Let’s start off with the video. I’ll be very honest, I hate the music video the first time I saw it (the preview). Everything, from clothes to the lighting, nothing compliments. Now, after watching the full MV, my opinions definitely changed. I still have wary feels about the MV but atleast I don’t hate it anymore.

The clothes used in the MV by the members, they don’t suck. Each costume fits well the member and it compliments well with others. I like it. What made it look bad is the fact that most of the clothes don’t fit to the song and dance choreography. If you look at the shots that are not dancing shots, you could see that the costume looks good. Its the dance shots. Sigh. Its not only that. I also want to point out the weird lighting. I dunno the purpose of it, maybe to set the mood of the MV I guess. But just like with the clothes, the weird lighting looks good during the solo & group shots. Again, the dance shots. Uuugggghhhhh. It looks too dark, especially when its the front angle of the dance shot, it looks so intense and again, too dark. Its disappointing.

Of course, I won’t just mention the bad points of the MV, I also have some good to excellent points. One of those is the visuals of the group. DAAANNNGGGG!! Everyone looks good during the solo & group shots. Too Good. Their visuals were through the roof. Maria’s visuals definitely caught my eye, also my biases Ayumi & Chisaki but damn Maria, she’s so beautiful. Another really good point of the MV is the awesome slick dance choreography. I got wide open the moment the MV started, seeing both my biases leading the dance in the center middle, Daaaayyyyuuuuuummmmm!!! They look so cool dancing to the song. You might think I am overestimating the dance, let me explain. The choreography of “A gonna” is not as intense and complicated as “Wagamama…”, but the intense delivery of the members made it a homerun for me. The way they dance to this song, damn, they freakin’ own it. I couldn’t even identify any weak dancers in the group, that’s a huge plus.

Lastly, let us talk about the song. When I first heard this song, it reminded me abit of some semi-old songs of Morning Musume.’13-14. Do I like it? Hhhhhmmmm…not much. The song is catchy and modern, especially the chorus part, but it didn’t hook me. The arrangement and composition of the song felt like its more of an Album song rather than be part of a main single. Its totally different from the usual release of MM, that’s why I could get it at first. I think the newer fans would totally appreciate this song more compared to the old and veteran fans of MM (like me). I do think I would appreciate this later after more repeats and after seeing it performed.

Overall, this MV definitely was a weird release. People have love-hate feelings about this song/MV, including me, but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t support the group. The bad points are indeed overflowing, but the good points can still be appreciated too. It depends on the taste of the person, I guess.

Bruh, I finished this entry.

You might be wondering if I am still going to do a “Music Feature” of this song, and my answer is “YES, I still am”. I feel that I haven’t tackled much of the music side and I still need to hear the song instrumentals alot more clearly before I judge it. For my entry above, I think I said my piece about the MV. My feels and opinion are out, and now, let me hear your thoughts too about the MV and the song . You can hate it or like it, I don’t mind. Let’s just share our opinions, okie? 😉

Anyway, that is all.

Music Feature: “Nakenai ze・・・Kyoukan Sagi / Uraha=Lover / Kimi Dake ja nai sa…friends (2018 Acoustic Ver.)” by ANGERME

Ooohohohohoh Yasss!!

I had been waiting for this single to be released. The previous single was uuuhhhhh…a DVD single, which was freakin’ expensive and wasn’t promoted much (the freakin’ official MV’s are not on youtube….WHY?!?!?).

With the announcement of Ayacho’s, the leader, graduation, every release of ANGERME now is precious so I can’t just ignore this one.

Without further ado, here’s my thoughts of the latest ANGERME single.

Nakenai ze・・・Kyoukan Sagi / Uraha=Lover / Kimi Dake ja nai sa…friends (2018 Acoustic Ver.)

  1. Nakenai ze・・・Kyoukan Sagi
  2. Uraha=Lover
  3. Kimi Dake ja nai sa…friends (2018 Acoustic Ver.)
  4. Nakenai ze・・・Kyoukan Sagi (Instrumental)
  5. Uraha=Lover (Instrumental)
  6. Kimi Dake ja nai sa…friends (2018 Acoustic Ver.) (Instrumental)

This is ANGERME’s 24th single. It was released last May 9, 2018 in 7 editions: 3 regular and 4 limited. This will be the first ‘official’ single of their new members, Kawamu & Musubu.

My Thoughts:

Nakenai ze・・・Kyoukan Sagi

Damn gurlz!! This song is soooooooooo gooooodddddd!!!

ANGERME’s definitely rocking the EDM genre, it fits really well with them. The song is upbeat, quirky and easy to listen to. Though I do admit, the 2nd half of the chorus was a bit unusual, it does grow on you. I really like how the singing parts were divided. Everyone gets enough parts to shine. The choreography is also mesmerizing. Bruh, seeing their youngest leading the dance in the intro made me drop my mouth to the floor. LOL. She’s so sassy man. The dance break totally didn’t disappoint.

Overall, this song is solid. But as the flagship of this single, not much.

Uuuggghhh, I can’t get enough of this song. This song is so my jam, hands down. I can’t stop listening to this song.

Compared to the song above, Uraha=Lover has a generic melody with amazing instrumentals. The instrumentals has so many elements involved. Its unique arrangement doesn’t bore me at all. Its a good thing that this one has a generic melody or else it would be too much and over-the-top. Though I am a bit weirded out by the layered autotune on some parts (there’s too much on the coda section), I got used to it in the long run.

Just like the first song, this also has a really good division of singing lines within the group. When I first heard the song, I couldn’t close my mouth after hearing the whole thing. I mean, bruh, Rikako getting the first part?? Wow. She shocked me again when she got the ending line too. Damn, I LOVE IT. Still, the MVP of the song is Kamiko. Her singing voice is to die for. Its so pleasant to listen to and she keeps on improving in every release. 2nd to her is Musubu. I already knew she is amazing vocally and as a dancer, but damn, she keeps on surprising me. I’m so happy she’s a part of ANGERME. Kawamu also didn’t disappoint. She delivered her parts really well, and I know she’ll improve more in the future.

Overall, this song is so so so GOOOOOOODDDD. Its even much better than Nakenai ze, and yet…this song is not the main song of this single. uuugggghhhhh… UFP… WTF were you thinking?!?!??!!?

Kimi Dake ja nai sa…friends (2018 Acoustic Ver.)

This song is…raw. Its alot more softer and vulnerable compared to the previous version. I like it, but I still love the previous version more. When I first heard this one, I was amazed by the fact that they made everyone sing individually. That’s very bold, bruh.

Do I like it? Yes and no. I am happy that in this version we could hear all of the member’s vocal prowess, but I won’t deny the fact that not everyone are good singers. I am happy that each one of them sound stable, but yeah, there are just some members who don’t fit well with the song. Don’t want to name drop anyone, but I do hope the live version of this acoustic version would be alot better.

Overall, this single is pretty good, but still weak. Compared to the other H!P singles this year, I like all the songs but Uraha=Lover is too good just to be a 2nd song of this single. I do understand why Nakenai ze was chosen as the primary song, cuz of its upbeat and strong-willed lyrics. Its definitely good for lives, but its not enough bruh. Not enough.

Now, we await for the latest single of Morning Musume.’18 that will be released soon. I do hope it would be a hit. Ooohohohoho.

Anyway, that is all for now.

Music Feature: “SEXY SEXY / Naite Ii yo / Vivid Midnight” by Juice=Juice

From one H!P single to another. You might be wondering why I had been consistently posting Hello! Project singles. Well, its the fault of their management company. LOL. They released alot of singles recently, both me and my money couldn’t keep up. RIP me. Don’t get me wrong, I am so happy that each idol group in Hello! Project gets a spotlight. Its now Juice=Juice’s turn to shine.

Here’s my thoughts of their latest single:

SEXY SEXY / Naite Ii yo / Vivid Midnight

  2. Naite Ii yo
  3. Vivid Midnight
  4. SEXY SEXY (Instrumental)
  5. Naite Ii yo (Instrumental)
  6. Vivid Midnight (Instrumental)

This is Juice=Juice’s 10th single. It was released on April 18, 2018 in 7 editions: 3 regular and 4 limited.

My Thoughts:

Oh damn, this song is so sexy.

I didn’t expect they would go full throttle on the sexy theme. I mean, I thought it was just the title. Also the fact that their new members are still underage. I do like the song, especially the refrain and chorus. The chorus is so well-made and so-H!P. I also like the intro music, it reminds me of my Juice=Juice fav song Dream Road for some point. The “..crazy..” part in the end of the chorus strongly reminds me of C-ute’s “Crazy Kanzen na Otona” song. Overall, the song is both modern and nostalgic, in a way a mix of new sound and the typical Juice=Juice sound. The intro and verses are modern, while the chorus and some sections of the song were so old school and latin. I really like how everything were arranged altogether. Its like a mix of everything. Really nice.

I really like how the lines were distributed. Everyone seems to get enough spotlight, though I am amazed they chose Yanamin as center for this song. I always see Nanamin as the cutesy upright girl from Country Girls, but now, she is taking the center spot for a daring single. Damn.

Naite Ii yo

From the title itself, this song must be a tearjerker. Oooohhhhh…this song is quite uplifting. The lyrics definitely hits home. The melody is easy to listen to. The verses is a bit bare, especially the first verse then the song builds up in the chorus. For some point the instrumental of the song reminds me alot of Morning Musume.’17’s “Gosenfu no Tasuki” from last year. I really really the breakdown section before the coda, its so nice to hear. Though at first, I’m abit iffy with the arrangement, I was able to warm up to it, after all I really like how the 2nd half of the song sounded.

I really like that I could hear loud and clear the voices of the members, definitely, there is no weakest member in the gorup in terms of vocals. Damn.

Vivid Midnight

Ooohoohhohohoho. I didn’t expect this song to be this good. This song is so KPOP. Hahahahaah, at the same time, its so JPOP. This is so weird.

I really really like how fun and bright this song is. I am not always a fan of this kind of songs of Juice=Juice cuz I find them abit boring. But this one, this one is really different. I can’t really pinpoint much who the hell is singing cuz I’m enjoying listening to the song too much. LOL. The instrumentals in the background definitely is the star of this song. You can hear random sounds that unexpectedly fits well with the song. Uuuggghhhh…why is this so good?!?!?! The vocals, well, of course they are on point. Though I am a bit worried that the adlibs near the end might be oversang by the members. Other than that, I’m so into this song.

The vocals, the arrangement, the lyrics, oh my its so good.

OOHH YES!! This single is sooooooooo SOLID. Its been awhile since I have encountered a single were all the songs are top tier. I can’t believe I am actually liking this new Juice=Juice. Their new music is so my jam, I can’t stop listening to them. Oh booiiii…I think I am falling for them. THIS IS BAD!!

Anyway, that’s all.

Thanks for reading!!

PS: If I am going to become an avid follower of this group, then my ultimate bias of the group would be my Yanamin. I loved her since her CG days, so I am going to continue to support her here in Juice=Juice.
