As I mentioned on my intro in my Honda-san review post, the fall season was one of the best in a while. It wasn’t just because of the popular ones or the hidden gems I discovered, but also the controversies surrounding alot of animes. The most popular one would be the Goblin Slayer as it had stirred alot of talks in the community. But I am not here to talk about GS, but actually an anime that had been controversial since the announcement of its anime, Uchi no Maid ga Uzasugiru!

Synopsis: Having lost her mother at a young age, Misha Takanashi, a second grader who is half-Russian and half-Japanese, now lives with her Japanese father. Tsubame Kamoi, formerly a Japan Air Self-Defense Force, JASDF officer, comes to the Takanashi household as a housekeeper. This is a home comedy where Kamoi, a hardcore lolicon, attempts to get near Misha as she tries to fight against her.
This anime definitely dances around a fine line between pedophilia and what is acceptable. No wonder its so damn controversial.
Uchi no Maid anime is a yuri anime about a woman who’s infatuated with a “russian blonde kid who hadn’t had menstruation yet” and becomes a maid to get closer to her. From that premise alone I would have dropped this anime immediately. But with the fact that the woman was once a soldier and was really buff, the absurdity of everything was too funny to drop. Everytime the maid makes a pedo move, it always turns into comedy so you can’t help but slide it off as a joke.
You guys might be thinking that I’m okay with pedo stuff. Definitely not. I am just okay with this anime, after all, it handled all the pedo stuff really crazy well and the maid doesn’t cross the boundaries of the kid. She just teases her and creeps her out. And believe me when I say I don’t ship them at all.
One thing I did like about this anime would be the heartwarming moments in every episode. The anime, specifically the maid, never forgets to instill some life moral lessons to the main character kid as she is still young and she still has alot of things to learn.
Overall, I enjoyed this series alot. I had fun and I laughed alot, especially because of the absurdity of the situations and the eccentric characters. I was able to handle the borderline pedo stuff as I see them as jokes and the heartwarming moments pretty much won me over the problematic stuff.
Still this series is not for everyone.
Anyway, that is all for now.
Thanks for reading!!
